What are your plans to improve your grammar and writing skills?

I like grammar because with it you can write and understand things better. During this semester, I’ve learnt many things, but the most meaningful for me was punctuation. This is a very helpful skill that everyone needs to know to improve, and get a good essay or whatever you want to write. Every time that I write in Spanish I don’t pay attention in the use of commas, semicolons, periods… I just write. Unfortunately, I do the same in English, so this class has been very useful to me to pay special attention in punctuation. Now, I’m aware of not making mistakes such as run together sentence or fragment. I believe that reading is a good technique to improve your writing skills; only if you pay attention to the way something is written. In order to get better in writing skills, I’ll continue reading and reviewing punctuation stuff to not forget about them.

Easter Egg Hunt

Easter Egg Hunt is really popular in Chile. Kids love looking for eggs. In my country we celebrate Easter the same way people in the United States do. Adult people hide Easter eggs in order to little kids have fun looking for them. Parents can hide the eggs in the backyard and inside of the house, as well. Every family member can participate in this tradition giving the kids Easter eggs. This tradition at least in my country and according to my point of view doesn't have a religious or spiritual meaning. It's just commercial significance. My family in Chile celebrates Easter eggs hunt and my host family does the same. Easter Egg Hunt is fun, but we need to remember what do we really celebrate in Easter time? And that is the resurection of Jesus.

Weather got you down?

I love sunny days. My favorite seasons are spring and summer for the same reason. I really enjoy looking the blue sky; feel the sun in my skin, and also have days longer. I didn’t like bad weather in my country, but I must say that I change my mind. I like rainy and cloudy days in California. I was astonished when I saw the trees with yellow and red leaves. They look pretty.  And the rain, it’s not so bad.  Besides, if we think about bad weather is as beneficial as good weather. Trees and animals need water to survive; we need water, as well.
On the other hand, I’m not sure if this is real or not. But I remembered when our science teacher told us about how does bad weather affect kids’ behavior? According to her, children are noisier and more hyperactive when days are cloudy and when there is a chance of raining.
Personally, I don’t feel affect for bad weather at all. I keep my same levels of motivation since I think every day its amazing weather we have good or bad weather. Moreover, I learnt to enjoy, love, be thankful for that.

Who do you admire?

I don’t know if this homework is going to be right or not. The assignment that Ms. Gross gave us was writing a paragraph about somebody we admire. To start, I would say that I don’t have a specific person, but I do admire every individual who struggles with difficulties in his/her life and has strengthens and willingness to stand up and keep going. And when I say difficulties I mean every kind of them; for instance: accidents, death, disability, disease, trauma, abuse, low income, etc. I admire people who were being beaten by others and they have eagerness to try one more time no matter what human beings think and say about them. I have a high regard for those who had lost everything in their lives, and they still have enthusiasm to rebuilt and start all over again. Those people really draw my attention and make me think about myself. Sometimes I complain for little things, but once I know and see the reality of others, I can realize that my problems are not even the half of them. Watching their behavior, I learn to be grateful for what I have and for what have given to me every day. So before complaining about something just be thankful for what we have. Paying attention on how people with real problems know how to get rid of them with a constructive and admirable attitude.

Short Terms Goals and Plans

I have a lot of goals and plans for my life. Only God knows if I will be able to reach them all. I'm studying English as a Second Language because I'm going to study Psychology. To prepare myself in that area I'm taking a psychology course at Stanford just because I want to train myself and see how hard is going to be. Another goal that I would like to accomplish is traveling around the United States to visit some important and beautiful places. In order to get that, I'm saving money every month because I need enough capital to do that. I know it's an ambitious plan. It's going to be hard, but nobody said that life would be easy. It's up to us try to reach our goals even if we fail unless we tried to make them true. It's better endeavor instead of waiting for the opportunity to knocks our door.

Canada College Learning Resources

Everyone says that Canada College has several and very good learning resources. Personally, I do not have time to go and use them. Last semester, I went to the Learning Center to make an appointment to see a tutor because I had questions about what were the steps to get a degree. So, I talked to a person and she gave me some clues about the whole process of getting a degree. Also, when I enrolled in Canada College I asked for Financial Aids since I do not have enough money to pay the real fees. That is something that I really liked it about Canada because they helped me to pay my fess, and the process it was not hard to do it. I am really happy about that assistance. Finally, I think I am going to use the resources of Canada College because I believe we need to take advantage of them. That is why they are there ready to be use for us.
